Maple 2017 Installation/Upgrade

Due to the size of the installation, please do not attempt to install any Maple applications via a wireless or VPN network connection. Prior to installing any new version or upgrade, please ensure that you are connected to a live, wired, Ethernet jack on campus and that your wireless network interface is disabled.

Existing Maple

If you have an existing Maple version prior to version 2017, you must first uninstall it prior to installing 2017. Follow these instructions to remove existing older versions of Maple:

  1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs
  2. Scroll down to Maple x and Click Change/Remove
  3. Click Uninstall
  4. Once the older version has been removed, we recommend you restart your computer before installing 2017

Installing Maple 2017

  1. IE users may click on the following link to begin the installation process, for any browser you will need to copy & paste it into the Run box (Windows Key + R):
    64-bit: \\fsvs01\Applications\Public\netapps\Maple\2017\Maple2017.0WindowsX64Installer.exe
    32-bit: \\fsvs01\Applications\Public\netapps\Maple\2017\Maple2017.0WindowsX86Installer.exe
    * It may take a few moments to load the executable - please be patient!
  2. Press yes on any User Account Control prompts you may receive
  3. Click Next in the Introduction window
  4. Accept the License Agreement and click Next
  5. Click Next to accept the default installation folder:
    • C:\Program Files\Maple 2017 or C:\Program Files (x86)\Maple 2017
  6. Select Yes or No re: whether or not you wish to have a shortcut placed on your desktop. Click Next
  7. If you have MATLAB installed and would like to configure Maple to connect to MATLAB
    • Select your MATLAB installation
  8. Otherwise, select do not check the MATLAB Configuration box
    1. If you are prompted to choose which toolbox you would like to use for symbolic math please do so
  9. If prompted, click Next at the configure MSVC compiler window
    1. Select No, click Next
  10. Select Network License when prompted for the type of licensing, click Next
  11. Leave the server setup at Single Server (default)
  12. Enter NETAPP01.olin.edu for Server Name and 27096 for Port in the License Manager Server window. Click Next
  13. Click Next in the check for updates window.
    1. Leave “Enable periodic checking for Maple 2017 updates after installation” & “Check for updates now” boxes checked
    2. Close Chrome if prompted as it may cause problems with the installation
  14. Click Next in the Pre-Installation Summary window.
  15. Click Finish
