Configuring 802.1x on Android Devices
- Go to the Settings page (Menu button, then Settings).
- Click on “Wireless & Networks”, then Wi-Fi settings.
- Click on the wireless network you want to add (we suggest using OLIN_GUEST with your mobile device as it won't create conflicts when you change your user password in the future).
- For OLIN_GUEST, simply enter the guest wireless password (available on the portal).
- For other Olin networks, scroll down and enter the following information:
- Identity: username@olin.edu, where username is your Olin network username, e.g. jsmith2, not your e-mail address.
- Wireless password: Use your Olin domain password, i.e. the password you log into webmail with.
- Click on the Connect button.
- If the above steps do not work, try manually adding the network as shown below.
Manual Setup
- Go to the Settings page (Menu button, then Settings).
- Click on “Wireless & Networks”, then Wi-Fi settings.
- Scroll down and click on Add Wi-Fi network.
- Change Security to WPA-EAP. The dialog should expand to give you more options to choose.
- Here are the settings. You should only need to change Network SSID, Identity, and Wireless password:
- Network SSID: OLIN_XX, where XX is AC, CC, MH, EH, or WH.
- Security: WPA-EAP
- EAP method: PEAP
- Phase 2 authentication: None
- CA certificate: N/A
- Client certificate: N/A
- Private key password: [leave blank]
- Identity: username@olin.edu, where username is your Olin network username, e.g. jsmith2, not your e-mail address.
- Anonymous identity: [leave blank]
- Wireless password: Use your Olin domain password, i.e. the password you log into webmail with.
- Click Save, and you should be able to connect.
