Jenzabar CX and CX 8.1 Passwords

Effective January 2015, Jenzabar CX and CX 8.1 now have enhanced password complexity requirements in order to enhance the overall security of the system and to match Olin's existing network password requirements as closely as possible.

These changes affect CX and CX 8.1 users only; passwords policies for JX and my.olin.edu remain as they are.

Password Requirements

Passwords expire after 6 months (180 days). Users will receive an expiration notification upon starting the CX menu 14 days prior to password expiry. CX 8.1 users will currently only be notified 7 days prior; as of January 2015, this has been acknowledged as a bug by Jenzabar (VSTS 92400).

When choosing a new password, it must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least eight (8) characters long
  • Include at least three (3) of the following character types:
    • Lower-case letters
    • Upper-case letters
    • Numbers
    • Special characters (e.g., “!”, “-”, “:”, etc.)

In addition, it cannot:

  • Be one of your four (4) most recently used passwords
  • Contain any part of your username
  • Contain only case changes of your previous password (e.g., changing “MyPassword123” to “mYpASSWORD123”)
  • Be a rearranged version of your previous password (e.g., changing “MyPassword123” to “wordPassMy123”)
