Contacting Information Technology

Information Technology can be contacted for questions and support by sending an email to helpdesk@olin.edu or by telephone at ext 2430 or 781-292-2430. Please feel free to stop by our helpdesk walk up window in with questions or suggestions in Milas Hall LL10.

IT Services

All faculty members will be issued a network account and an Olin email account. Your network account will give you the ability to print and access network shares on campus. Please stop by the Help Desk in MHLL10 to get your account activated and receive your username.

Each faculty member is allotted private storage space on on network file server (fsvs01). This storage is provided as an academic resource and should be used for this purpose only.

  • Network shares can be accessed at server \\fsvs01.
  • Printers can be accessed at server \\printvs02.
    • You will be prompted for your network credentials for all servers which should be entered as olin.edu\firstinitiallastname and password

If you require access to networked engineering applications or network shares while off campus, you can use our Virtual Private Network to connect to the Olin network. VPN client software is available for download to your personal computer on our portal: see details below for portal access. You can email helpdesk@olin.edu to request a username and password for the VPN software.

Electronic Mail

Olin provides a web based email client that can be accessed at:

  • Click the appropriate logon option, and sign in with our domain name and your network credentials→olin.edu\first initial last name and network password

The standard official e-mail address at Olin College is:

  • Faculty and staff: firstname.lastname@olin.edu
  • Students: firstname.lastname@students.olin.edu
  • Alumni: firstname.lastname@alumni.olin.edu

Some common email distribution groups have been built to help you connect with various groups of people on campus.

Internet Access

You can plug your laptop into any active jack on campus to get internet connectivity. Your network credentials will allow you access to our wireless network. Further information on connecting to our wireless network can be found here

Network Printers

Olin Portal

Please visit our portal at: https://my.olin.eduand log in using your network username and password.

For class lists and course information choose the faculty tab and then the My courses folder from the left navigation pane. You can also find calendar information and links to important urls on campus. You can download VPN software directly from the portal by going to the Campus Life Tab and choosing Information Technology page from the left column.

Accessing the Course Management System

Olin College uses Blackboard as its course management system. If you would like to use Blackboard for your class or need further information, please email helpdesk@olin.edu with course ID and we will create accounts, course and upload all enrolled students.

Password Management

We strongly recommend that you enroll at https://password.olin.edu. This website allows you to change or reset your password, as well as unlock your account in case you are ever locked out.. Your Olin password will always expire 180 days after it is last changed. Additionally, your password must contain three out of these four characters:

  • Lowercase letters; uppercase; numbers; symbols (!, @, #, etc)
