ANSYS

Due to the size of the installation, please DO NOT attempt to install this application via a wireless or VPN network connection. Prior to installing any new version or upgrade, please ensure that you are connected to a live, wired, Ethernet jack on campus and that your wireless network interface is disabled. You will need to uninstall any previous version of Ansys prior to installing the new version as Ansys Workbench will not function otherwise.

Installing Ansys 2024

  1. Copy paste the following link into a Run… dialogue window or into a file explorer address bar:
  2. Right click on AnsysInstaller.exe and select Run as Administrator
    1. If you receive a Security Warning window, click Run to continue the install.
    2. Click Yes when it asks to allow the application to make changes to your device.
  3. A installation window should be open with multiple steps
    1. In the *Legal* tab, agree to the terms and conditions
    2. In the *Sign-In* tab, it asks you to sign in via Ansys ID
      1. Create an ID using your school email and follow the steps
  4. Once you're signed in, accept the destination and the products.
  5. Confirm everything and wait for the download to install.

Installing Ansys Multiphysics 19.2

  1. IE users may click to follow the link, for any other browser you will need copy & paste the link into a Run… dialog window or the Windows Start Menu search box.
  2. Right click on setup.exe and select Run as Administrator
    1. If you receive a Security Warning window, click Run to continue the install.
  3. Click Install ANSYS Products
  4. Select I Agree in the License Agreement window to accept the license agreement
    1. Click the arrow on the right side of the window. For the rest of this install guide, this will be refrenced to as clicking Next.
  5. Click Next to accept default installation path.
    1. You may choose to disable the ANSYS RSS feed if you wish.
    2. Leave the file extension settings enabled (default)
  6. The Enter License Server Specification window should appear next
    1. If you had a previous version of ANSYS installed you may not receive this window. If it does, please ensure it matches the following:
      1. ANSYS Licensing Interconnect port number (default is 2325): 2325
      2. ANSYS FLEXlm port number (default is 1055): 1400
      3. Select number of license server machines: 1-server
      4. Hostname 1: NETAPP01.olin.edu
  7. At the following screen for configuring the additional plugins, select “Skip all and configure later” at the bottom, these can be configured as needed. Click Next
  8. Click Next at the review screen to begin installation.
    1. At first it may install any missing prerequisites that ANSYS needs to run. If you quickly receive a message that Everything was successfully installed, do not close out of the installation window.
    2. This installation can take a very long time. The window may appear to freeze during the installation or not give any indication that the install has started immediately.
  9. When prompted for the path to DVD to copy and paste the following into the dialog box:

You may also select Browse and travel up one directory and select the disk2 folder

  1. Click OK
  2. Click Next after the installation has completed.
  3. Click Next at the Finish Installation screen.
  4. You may be prompted to answer survey questions, uncheck this box before selecting Exit if you do not want to do so.
  5. Click Exit in the installation manager.

Installing Ansys Multiphysics 18.2

  1. IE users may click to follow the link, for any other browser you will need copy & paste the link into a Run… dialog window or the Windows Start Menu search box.
    1. Right click InstallPreReqs.exe and select Run as Administrator
    2. If you receive a Security Warning window, click Run to continue the install. Allow all of the required prerequisite programs to install normally. Click Run in any following security windows. This should require minimal user interaction
  2. Following the prerequisite program installations, right click on setup.exe and select Run as Administrator
    1. If you receive a Security Warning window, click Run to continue the install.
  3. Click Install ANSYS Products
  4. Select I Agree in the License Agreement window to accept the license agreement
    1. Click the arrow on the right side of the window. For the rest of this install guide, this will be refrenced to as clicking Next.
