Maple 17 Installation/Upgrade

Due to the size of the installation, please do not attempt to install any Maple applications via a wireless or VPN network connection. Prior to installing any new version or upgrade, please ensure that you are connected to a live, wired, Ethernet jack on campus and that your wireless network interface is disabled.

Existing Maple

If you have an existing Maple version prior to version 17, you must first uninstall it prior to installing 17. Follow these instructions to remove existing older versions of Maple:

  1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs
  2. Scroll down to Maple x and Click Change/Remove
  3. Click Uninstall
  4. Once the older version has been removed, we recommend you restart your computer before installing 17

Installing Maple 17

  1. IE users may click on the following link to begin the installation process, for any browser you will need to copy & paste it into the Run box (Windows Key + R):
    32-bit: \\fsvs01\applications\Public\netapps\Maple\17\Maple17WindowsInstaller.exe
    64-bit: \\fsvs01\applications\Public\netapps\Maple\17\Maple17WindowsX86_64Installer.exe % * It may take a few moments to load the executable - please be patient!
  2. Press Yes on any User Account Control prompts you may receive
  3. Click Next in the Introduction window
  4. Accept the License Agreement and click Next
  5. Click Next to accept the default installation folder:
    • C:\Program Files\Maple 17 or C:\Program Files (x86)\Maple 17
  6. Select Yes or No re: whether or not you wish to have a shortcut placed on your desktop. Click Next
  7. If you have MATLAB installed and would like to configure Maple to connect to MATLAB
    • Select your MATLAB installation
  8. Otherwise, select Do not configure at this time
    1. If yes, choose which toolbox you would like to use for symbolic math
  9. If prompted, click Next at the configure MSVC compiler window
    1. Select No, click Next
  10. Click Next at the Watcom Installation window
  11. Select Network License when prompted for the type of licensing, click Next
  12. Enter NETAPP01 for Server Name and 27096 for Port in the License Manager Server window. Click Next
  13. Click Install in the Pre-Installation Summary window.
    1. Close Chrome if prompted as it may cause problems with the installation
  14. Select Yes to restart your computer if prompted and complete the installation process.
  15. Click Done

Patching to 17.01

  1. IE users may click on the following link to begin the installation process, for any browser you will need to copy & paste it into the Run box (Windows Key + R):
    32-bit: \\fsvs01\applications\Public\netapps\Maple\17\patches\Maple1701WindowsUpgrade.exe
    64-bit: \\fsvs01\applications\Public\netapps\Maple\17\patches\Maple1701WindowsX86_64Upgrade.exe
  2. Press yes on any User Account Control prompts you may receive
  3. Click Next in the Introduction window
  4. Click Next to accept the default installation folder:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Maple 17 or C:\Program Files\Maple 17
  5. Clicn Next in the Maple Toolbox Update window
  6. If previously configured to interface with MATLAB you will need to browse to your MATLAB installation folder
    1. Click Choose and browse to C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2013a or similar
    2. Click Next
  7. Click Install in the Pre-Installation Summary window.
    1. Close Chrome if prompted as it may cause problems with the installation
  8. Click Done
