Printing to the HP Z9 Poster Printer from OS X
Note: these instructions were written for MacOS.
Download & Install the latest printer drivers
- Download the latest printer driver & utility application from the HP website:
- Please be sure to check that the automatically selected Operating System matches the system that you are running
- Download both the HP Designjet Mac PostScript Driver disk image under Driver-Product Installation Software and HP Utility disk image under Software Utility.
- Note: You will not need to download/install the Raster Driver unless specifically directed to do so
- Mount the PostScript Driver .dmg file and run the installer by select the HP DesignJet PostScript Driver installer; follow onscreen instructions.
- You may be prompted for your computer administrative password during this installation, it is safe to enter it as prompted.
- Following the completion of the driver install, mount the HP Utility .dmg file and run the installer by selecting HP DesignJet HP Utility; follow the onscreen instructions.
- You may be prompted for your computer administrative password during this installation, it is safe to enter it as prompted.
Setting up a print queue
- Open System Preferences and select Printers & Scanners
- Click on the + sign in the lower left corner to begin adding a new printer
- Go to the IP tab on the new Add window that opens and use the following information
- Address: 10.24.8.229
- Protocol: HP JetDirect - Socket
- This field may not correctly autofill and will need to be manually selected, otherwise you will be unable to print
- Queue: leave blank
- Name: MHL37Z9
- Location: MH Library L37
- Use: HP DesignJet Z9 Pro Dual Roll 44inch
- Please verify that this correctly autofills!
- Click Add
- Click quit at the finish up screen
The new printer will now show up in the Printer List.
