Olin College of Engineering qualifies for “SolidWorks Student Access”, the full-suite SolidWorks CAD & Simulation off-network, laptop program. 100 licenses are available for students.

• Open Control Panel, and then
• Open Programs and Features.
• Find SolidWorks in the list, and
• Right-click to choose Modify.
• This will bring up the installation manager, where you should have the option to modify the individual installation.
• At the serial screen, replace the serial number listed with the new SEK serial number (90200131198288518SMM4ZKJ). Also, at the Products to Install screen, make sure all desired products have their requisite check-boxes checked.
• Proceed through the rest of the install, and that installation should no longer require network communication to the server in order to use the SolidWorks license.

These steps are for off-campus students installing SolidWorks off. On-campus students can continue to use the instructions on the Solidworks Installation page.

1. Go to the SolidWorks Community Download Page. Fill in your first and last name and email address, and select “Student” from the drop down menu. Under the “Product Information” header, select “Yes” for “I already have a Serial Number that starts with 9020” and “2019-2020” for “Academic Version.”
2. Click “Request Download.” On the next window, click “Accept and Continue” to agree to the terms and conditions.
3. Click “Download” to get the setup file, SolidWorksSetup.exe.
4. Run the setup file. This will open up an unzipping window. Click “Unzip” to unzip the contents of the folder.
5. After unzipping, the SolidWorks installation manager should automatically open. If it doesn’t, run the setup file that was just unzipped.
6. Select “Individual (on this computer)”
7. In the 3D Design dropdown, next to SOLIDWORKS (which should be checked), enter the serial number: 90200131198288518SMM4ZKJ (can be copied & pasted). Do not check any other dropdowns and products – the serial number provided automatically pulls several of them.
8. The next page shows the products that will be downloaded. Accept the terms of the SOLIDWORKS License Agreement and click Download and Install.

This is a very large download and installation. Depending on your internet connection, it could take all day!

The Installation Manager will let you know when the installation is complete, and you can then close out of it. The first time you open SOLIDWORKS after installing it you will need to activate it. In the Product box select SOLIDWORKS (or click the Select All box to the right), make sure “Automatically over the Internet” is selected as activation method, then click next.

It may take a few seconds for the activation to finish. Once done, it will automatically take you to the next screen and show all the products you have installed and activated, as well as when the activation expires.
