WinEdt
Upgrading to latest Olin licensed version v5.5.
NOTE: This application is only for use on Olin College owned computer equipment and student laptops as part of the College’s laptop program. You may not use any Olin licensed software on personal systems unless explicit permission/licensing is granted.

Prior to upgrading an existing installation, you should backup your current configuration:
- Launch WinEdt
- Click on Options, Configurations, Backup -
- Click OK
- Click OK
- Close any running instances of WinEdt
Installation:
- IE users may reinstall version 5.5 (latest available licensed version) by clicking on the following link, for any other browser you will need to copy & paste it into the Run box (Start→Run… OR: Windows Key + R): \\fsvs01\applications\Public\netapps\WinEdt\winedt55.exe
- Click Yes to any UAC prompts that may appear.
- Click Run
- Click Next
- Select I accept the agreement
- Click Next
- Click Next
- Click Next to accept the default installation directory located in: C:\Program Files\WinEdt Team\WinEdt
- Click Next to accept the default Startup folder name of WinEdt
- Additional Tasks screen: Review these options before clicking Next.
- If this is a new installation, accept the default
- If this is an upgrade, you may wish to keep your existing settings and you should therefore Uncheck the Overwrite Existing Settings option
- Click Next
- Click Install
- Click Finish
- When installation is complete the new WinEdt will start and present you with the Configuration and Installation Wizard. You can review options at http://www.winedt.com/installing.html
Your copy of WinEdt must be registered in order to use it. The Name and Code information can be found in the registration file located in the installation folder:
Registration Information: \\fsvs01\applications\Public\netapps\WinEdt\Winedt-registration.txt
Enter the Name and Code information exactly as it appears to properly register your Olin site license copy of WinEdt
