(old) Jenzabar CX and CX 8.1 Passwords

Effective January 2015, Jenzabar CX and CX 8.1 now have enhanced password complexity requirements in order to enhance the overall security of the system and to match Olin's existing network password requirements as closely as possible.

These changes affect CX and CX 8.1 users only; passwords policies for JX and my.olin.edu remain as they are.

Password Requirements

Passwords expire after 6 months (180 days). Users will receive an expiration notification upon starting the CX menu 14 days prior to password expiry. CX 8.1 users will currently only be notified 7 days prior; as of January 2015, this has been acknowledged as a bug by Jenzabar (VSTS 92400).

Changing Your Password

CX (QuickMate)

After starting the menu:

  1. Select [U] Utility Menu
  2. Select [a]-Login
  3. Select [a] Change Password
  4. At the “CHANGE PASSWORD – No additional information is required” screen, click or hit Enter
  5. The menu will temporarily disappear and you will briefly return to your SSH Secure Shell window
  6. Enter your old password when prompted.
    • NOTE: No characters will appear when you enter your password here or at the subsequent password prompts.
  7. Enter your new password
    • If it does not meet the criteria described above, you will be asked to choose a different password
  8. Enter your new password again for confirmation
  9. If your password was successfully changed, you will see the following message:
    Password changed.
    If you do not see this message, your password change was not successful and you will need to repeat this process.
  10. Hit Enter to continue when prompted
  11. The menu will reappear

CX 8.1

After starting the menu:

  1. Expand Utility Menu
  2. Expand Login
  3. Click Change Password
  4. At the “CHANGE PASSWORD – No additional information is required” screen, click or hit F9
  5. The SSH Message Console window will be brought to the forefront
  6. Enter your old password when prompted
    • NOTE: No characters will appear when you enter your password here or at the subsequent password prompts.
  7. Enter your new password
    • If it does not meet the criteria described above, you will be asked to choose a different password
  8. Enter your new password again for confirmation
  9. If your password was successfully changed, you will see the following message:
    Password changed.
    If you do not see this message, your password change was not successful and you will need to repeat this process.
  10. Hit Enter to continue when prompted
  11. The menu will be brought to the forefront
