Nortel CallPilot v5.1 Installation

CallPilot provides the ability to listen to voicemail messages through your Microsoft Outlook email client in the form of an audio playback. CallPilot should be used to listen to voicemails only. Please continue to use your phone if you wish to use features such as forward and/or reply to messages received. This documentation will apply to new CallPilot client installs as well as upgrading from a previous version:

:!: Please note which version of Microsoft Office you have installed (32-bit vs. 64-bit) in order to determine which CallPilot client to install:

  • To do so, open an office application.
  • Select File, followed by Help
  • Look for 32-bit (or 64-bit)

:!: Please ensure that Outlook is closed prior to running the install.

  • IE users may CTRL+Click the following links to execute the installation files. Users of other browsers will need to copy/paste the link to their Run… dialog box
  • Select OK to open the file at the warning popup window
  • If Callpilot is already installed, a popup window will inform you that the install will perform an upgrade. Select Yes to continue.
  • Click Next at the Welcome Install Shield Wizard
  • If prompted: CallPilot Server Information
    • Server Name or TCP/IP address:
    • VPIM network prefix: 1781292
    • Click Next
  • Select Complete for the setup type; click Next
  • Click Install at the Ready to Install the Program window
    • Select OK/Yes to open the file at any warning or popup windows
  • Once the installation has completed, click Finish
  • If you are upgrading your version of CallPilot, Outlook will retain the mailbox and password settings
  • For new client installs:
    • You’ll need to “Add CallPilot to Default Mail Profile”
      • This can be found under Start > All Programs > Avaya > CallPilot Desktop Messaging
    • When you first load Outlook you will be prompted for Mailbox & Password. Type in your four digit extension and your current voicemail password.
      • If you have not changed your password you will need to change your password before configuring CallPilot. Appropriate directions can be found here.
  • The CallPilot Desktop Messaging inbox will appear on the left side of your Outlook folders list. The CallPilot Inbox will appear in bold when a new voice message is received.

IMAP Configuration

This only requires installation of the CallPilot Player, which may be installed by IE users by CTRL+Clicking the following link to execute the installation file: \\fsvs01\Applications\Public\Nortel\CallPilotPlayer\audio_enu.exe Users of other browsers will need to copy/paste the link to their Run… dialog box

  • Your Name: Your Name
  • Email Address:
    • where “xxxx” == user's extension
  • Account Type: IMAP
  • Incoming Mail Server:
  • Outgoing Mail Server:
  • Username: 1781292xxxx
    • where “xxxx” == user's extension
  • Password: user's phone password - default being 781xxxx
    • will need to be changed from default before callpilot may be setup
  • Remember password: yes
