Campus Network Wiring Work starting Monday, April 22, 2019

Starting on Monday, April 22, we will begin visible work to upgrade the infrastructure that supports our campus security camera system. The first phase of this work includes the installation of new network cabling to each security camera location, which will eventually replace the legacy coaxial cabling currently in use. This work will take 5-6 weeks. During this time, you will see technicians installing new wiring in ceiling areas and network closets around campus. We plan to start in the Campus Center, then proceed to the Academic Center and LPB, then Milas Hall, and finally the residence halls (likely just after Commencement and move-out).

Most work will take place between 6am and 2pm. Technicians for this phase of work are from MTS Services, and will have ID badges identifying them as such. We expect that the majority of work will take place in hallways, vestibules, and other campus public spaces. If any work is required to pull cabling through private spaces (offices, restrooms, residential rooms, etc.), we will provide ample warning and coordinate work with occupants.

If you have any questions about this work, please contact Manny Amaral. If you have any urgent safety concern during this work, please contact Babson/Olin Public Safety (781-239-5555).
