Connecting to Network Shares on Ubuntu
On 16.04:
- Click connect to server in bottom left of files window
- Use smb://fsvs01 for server address and press connect
- On the next screen, use first initial last name as username, domain is “olin.edu” and password is network password
On 18.04:
- Open up a terminal and type:
- sudo apt install smbclient
- sudo gedit /etc/samba/smb.conf
- Now replace the line in the smb.conf file that has “workgroup=..” with these 4 lines:
- client use spnego = no
- client ntlmv2 auth = no
- workgroup = WINWIRKGRP
- client max protocol = NT1
- Now go to file explorer and click other locations in the bottom left corner
- Enter smb://fsvs01/Public as the server address. When prompted enter your Olin network username as the username, domain as olin.edu, and password as Olin network password and click connect
